Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 September 2026
This policy explains what Know My Pet collects and how to request deletion. Answers are scored in your browser and are only sent to us when you start a report purchase. We send basic Google Analytics statistics by default without analytics cookies, and you can turn statistics off in the footer. We do not sell your data.
1. Who is responsible
Know My Pet (knowmypet.co) is the controller of the personal data described here. For anything to do with your data, write to hello@knowmypet.co.
2. What we collect, and why
- Quiz answers and your pet's name. Stored in your browser's local storage so you can return to the result. Sent to our servers only when you begin a purchase, so the report can be generated from them.
- Payment details. Handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store card numbers. We receive the payment status, an order reference and the email address you used at checkout.
- Your report. The generated text is stored against your order for one year so the private link keeps working, and so you can save the PDF again without paying twice.
- Email address. Used to send the finished PDF and any purchase support, and, if you joined the waiting list, to tell you when the report is available.
- Usage events. Which pages and quiz steps are used, without answers, scores or result types, kept for 90 days to see what is broken and what is used.
- Google Analytics. Page views and basic events in cookieless mode by default. Analytics cookies are set only if you allow them in the footer settings. Answers, scores, result types and private links are never sent to Google.
- Technical logs. Our hosting provider records standard request logs (IP address, browser, timestamp) for security and debugging, retained briefly.
- Support email. If you write to us, we keep the correspondence as long as needed to help you.
3. Legal bases
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process your data to perform our contract with you (showing the result, generating and delivering the report), with your consent (waiting list, analytics cookies), and in our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and understanding how it is used.
You can withdraw consent at any time; this does not affect processing that already happened.
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell personal data, use it for advertising, or share anyone's individual result. The following services process data on our behalf: Cloudflare (hosting, storage and delivery), Stripe (payment), the AI provider that writes the report from your answers, Resend (email delivery) and Google Analytics (aggregate statistics). Each processes only what it needs for its part.
Some of these providers are located in the United States. Transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards where required.
5. How long we keep things
- Quiz answers in your browser: until you clear them or retake the quiz.
- Order records and generated reports: one year from purchase, then deleted.
- Checkout intents that never became a purchase: seven days.
- Usage events: 90 days.
- Waiting-list and support emails: until you ask us to delete them.
- Payment records at Stripe: as required by financial regulation, under Stripe's own policy.
6. Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, receive a copy, restrict or object to its processing, and withdraw any consent you have given. Write to hello@knowmypet.co and include the email address used at checkout or the order reference so we can find the records. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
7. Children
The site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16, and you must be 18 or older to buy a report. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Cookies and local storage
Answers, your pet's name and your saved statistics preference use local storage. There is no automatic consent popup. Google Analytics starts with analytics storage denied and sets cookies only after you allow them; you can change that choice in the footer at any time. Stripe sets its own cookies on the checkout page under its policy.
9. Security
The site is served over HTTPS, reports are stored with restricted access, and we never hold card details. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data, we will tell you as the law requires.
10. Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be announced on the site.
